Hi all! First let me say thank you for looking at my question--I am at a crossroads right now and could use some help.
I graduated Cum Laude from Sonoma State University with my B.A. in Psychology, and am currently in a Counseling Psychology Master's Program. After having completed my first semester of graduate school, I'm not sure I want to go forth and complete my degree. Lately, I've had a strong interest in law--particularly fair housing and real estate law--but I don't know the next step to take. My main concerns about sticking with my Counseling degree are:
*Compensation
*Dealing with stingy insurance companies (many do not want to pay the standard $120/hr rate)
*Issues of countertransference.
*The program I am in is about $11,000 a semester with a 5 semester layout, so 55k.
Doling out 55k for a degree that will likely earn me 45k is something I should've considered before I signed up... I feel like a law degree might be a better investment, but I don't know much about the process of becoming a lawyer. Can anyone shed some light and maybe give me a starting point? Maybe help me understand what expectations law programs have?
Thank you :)
The three asterisks above is because i said c-u-m as in c-u-m laude, but answers.yahoo thought it was vulgar :P
